In these trying times of isolation and fear, I find myself turning to the sweet strength of Sierra Marin. All of her songs are beautiful offerings of musical healing, but the one that’s been especially uplifting to me during these long quarantine days has been “Love is the Medicine”. The chorus is a perspective that […]
Empowerment Song: One People by Nattali Rize
Even though Reggae isn’t on my heavy music rotation, I have so much love and respect for the genre and community. Reggae music was really the first wave of what we now call “conscious music”. People of Color were the first to make musical medicine to raise vibrations, to unite people, and to heal the […]
Empowerment Song: She is Boundless by Mary Isis
For this month my women empowerment song selection is “She is Boundless” from Mary Isis. This song appears on her first album Nectarian. It is a beautiful celebration of the divine powers that dance within all women. Mary Isis is not only a singer songwriter, but also healer, herbalist, and teacher. She is inspired by […]

Empowerment Song: As I Am by Paper Bird
Each month, I am going to be sharing different music created by women. The music industry is still mostly dominated by men- women are still grossly under represented. This is why it is so important for us to shine the spotlight on women’s music. Music, more than any other art form, can fan the flames of the soul. I hope these monthly song selections will help keep the fires in your hearts burning strong.
